Security Guard Held for Rape Shot in Leg While Trying to Flee in Ahmedabad
Police said 10 teams tracked Dharam Singh after he allegedly attacked a 23-year-old interior design student on a housing society terrace.
- On Saturday, a 23-year-old interior design student was allegedly raped on the rooftop of a housing society in Ahmedabad's Anandnagar area around 10.30 pm, police said on Sunday.
- Joint Commissioner Neeraj Badgujar said suspect Dharam Singh had started working at the complex four days ago and allegedly strangled the victim with a wire before escaping after bolting the terrace door.
- The student raised an alarm after regaining consciousness, prompting residents on the fifth floor to open the terrace door. Police responded immediately and registered an FIR.
- Ten teams from different police stations reviewed CCTV footage throughout the vicinity and tracked the suspect to Hebatpur in Thaltej. Singh, who is from Uttar Pradesh, was arrested.
- Badgujar confirmed medical tests have been completed and the suspect is undergoing interrogation. Before this employment, Singh had worked at a different apartment complex in the city.
