- Minutes from the RBA's August board meeting, released on Tuesday, showed the Reserve Bank of Australia was concerned about upside inflation risks, while trimmed mean core inflation held steady at 3.6%.
- Market analysts now estimate a 30% to 40% risk of an RBA rate hike next month, with chief economist David Bassanese of Betashares calling the result an "unfortunate kick in the guts" for the economy.
- Federal Treasurer Jim Chalmers called the data a "promising result in the face of all of this global uncertainty," though he acknowledged households remain under pressure as inflation bounces around in coming months.
