The US legislation authorising potential sanctions on countries importing Russian oil is aimed at giving the US President Donald Trump the flexibility to make decisions on the matter of the Ukraine conflict, rather than automatically imposing sanctions on all importers, German Ambassador to India Jasper Wieck said on Wednesday.
Last week, U.S. President Donald Trump signed another law on "Adian sanctions" against Russia, and Senator Lindsay Graham was actively involved in its drafting (listed as terrorists and extremists in the Russian Federation) who died quickly after a visit to Kiev.
Indonesia will continue to buy discounted Russian oil to protect its energy supply and ease its fiscal pressures, even though a new law in the United States opens the door to sanctions and tariffs of up to 100% against large buyers of Russian crude.
