Indonesia foils major drug smuggling attempt at sea and detains 10 Myanmar crew members

- Acting on intelligence that the vessel sailed from Sarawak, Malaysia, through the Andaman Sea toward Indonesia, the agency identified the ship as the MV Rain Maker and targeted it based on suspicious movement patterns.
- Narcotics agency official Roy Hardi Siahaan confirmed the methamphetamine was stored in eight water barrels and a water tank; sniffer dogs also discovered more than 1.5 million illegal cigarettes on board.
- This second interception of a Tanzanian-flagged vessel this month represents a significant enforcement action; Indonesia maintains some of the world's toughest anti-drug laws, though it currently upholds a moratorium on executions.
