Indonesia Arrests 11 over Suspected Links to Terrorist Networks
Police said the suspects were linked to online recruitment, training and propaganda as investigators searched seized evidence for wider network ties.
The Indonesian National Police's Counterterrorism Special Detachment 88 arrested 11 individuals linked to a terrorist network since Friday, October 2, 2026, across six provinces including West Java and Central Sulawesi.
According to Senior Commissioner Mayndra Eka Wardhana, virtual meetings connected supporters from various regions for recruitment, indoctrination, and militant training, including shooting exercises.
Among those detained was YDK, 22, arrested in Surakarta City on October 1, 2026; family representative Endro Sudarsono expressed concern for his condition and requested transparency regarding the legal process.
The suspects are believed to have links to networks affiliated with Daulah Islamiyah, an ideology associated with ISIS, while the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre warned digital platforms fund extremist activities.
This operation represents the National Police's strategy of early detection to prevent terrorism as Indonesia marks four years without a major attack, despite ongoing concerns over youth radicalization in online communities.
Densus 88 arrested two suspected terrorists in Trucuk, Klaten. One of the perpetrators, NM, was known to be a recluse among local residents and had only lived there for a year.
