NADA has handed athletics coach Rakesh Kumar a life ban for administering prohibited substances, while powerlifter Gaurav Vats has been provisionally suspended in a case involving the alleged possession and trafficking of banned drugs. The latest sanctions list also includes athletics sprinter Prakruthi Roopa Rao, who was provisionally suspended after testing positive for Stanozolol and Drostanolone.
Doping scandals are not new in Indian sports, and numerous athletes have been banned for their involvement. However, this is the first instance of a coach being banned.
