India's 'cockroach' movement to protest from Oct. 2 if poll chief does not quit by Saturday
The Cockroach Janta Party demanded that Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar resign within 48 hours or face nationwide protests.
The demand followed an Indian Express report that Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi had questioned or raised concerns about voter-list changes at least 14 times.
Congress announced protests at election offices and sought Kumar’s removal and arrest, along with an independent review of voter-list decisions made under his leadership.
The Election Commission said differing views were normal and maintained that its decisions were unanimous.
