- Jordan Grinor, director at Hudson Valley Farms, disputes cruelty allegations, arguing that "gavage," or force-feeding, is a traditional animal husbandry practice mimicking how ducks gorge before migration.
- Hutchins warned the measure discards culinary heritage, stating, "It's this very modern thing where we just kind of keep throwing away the past." The debate pits reformers against vested interests.
