The voters of Pau voted in the second round of the 2026 municipal elections to elect their future mayor and the members of the municipal council. François Bayrou was defeated by socialist candidate Jérôme Marbot with 344 votes.
The former Prime Minister and President of MoDem had come in the lead in the first round. His defeat, by little, seems to be an earthquake for the one who occupied the town hall since 2014.
Mayor of the city since 2014, the president of MoDem was just beaten by socialist Jérôme Marbot.
Earlier in the evening, the candidate of the left union (excluding LFI) had claimed his own victory against the leader of the MoDem.
