In Afghanistan, five years after the fall of Kabul and the Taliban's capture of the capital on August 15, 2021, embryonic armed opposition groups are emerging, often in a disorganized fashion. In mid-July, however, one of these groups managed to seize control of a district in the northeast of the country for the first time since the Taliban came to power.
