In a first, Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami chairs State cabinet meeting outside Dehradun
The meeting is the first outside Dehradun and is meant to bring local issues and development priorities directly before the government, officials said.
- On Sunday, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami chaired a cabinet meeting at the NHPC complex in Banbasa, marking the first time the state cabinet convened outside the capital city of Dehradun.
- The initiative aims to bring governance closer to residents by holding meetings across districts. Dhami emphasized that border areas serve as vital links to the state's security, culture, and development, not merely geographical boundaries.
- Following the cabinet session, Dhami inaugurated the three-day Uttarakhand Aadi Rangotsav-2026 Khatima alongside Union Ministers Kiren Rijiju and Jual Oram, who attended as special guests celebrating tribal culture.
- Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram announced ₹10 crore in funding for expanding the Eklavya Residential School in Khatima, while Dhami requested a similar institution be established in Pithoragarh.
- Dhami welcomed new state in-charge Ram Madhav, praising his extensive experience across Jammu, Kashmir, and northeastern states. "His guidance and leadership will be immensely helpful to our state unit in expanding the organisation," Dhami said.
