Hayden Panettiere Was Found With Counterfeit Pills, White Powder at Time of Her Death
The coroner said fentanyl and other drugs caused her death, and officials found counterfeit pills, white powder and a straw near her body.
- The Greenville County Coroner's Office ruled on September 22 that Hayden Panettiere's death was an accident caused by "toxic effects of fentanyl, 4-ANPP, Alprazolam, Methocarbamol, and Quetiapine." The 36-year-old actress died in South Carolina on August 16.
- Brian Hickerson and his brother Zach Hickerson discovered Panettiere's body and immediately took action. Zach told TMZ he "immediately called 911 and Brian gave her Narcan," then the brothers "jointly performed CPR while 911 was on speaker until Fire and EMS arrived."
- A Medical Examiner's report detailed findings at the residence: investigators discovered blue pressed pills testing positive for fentanyl, a straw near where the body was found, and a sunglasses case containing white powder inside her suitcase.
- The Greenville City Police Department confirmed that "no signs of trauma were discovered that would have contributed to the death" during the autopsy. The preliminary investigation also indicated "no signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances" around her death.
- Panettiere's representative described the inquiry as a "Complex" investigation as online speculation mounted. Meanwhile, officials clarified that a separate welfare check conducted at the Hickerson home on August 19 was unrelated to the death investigation.
