'I Would Shoot You if I Could': Substitute Teacher Arrested After Alleged Comments in South Carolina Classroom
Authorities say the teacher admitted making the threats, and the sheriff’s department issued 18 warrants for child endangerment charges.
Substitute teacher Dejuan Antoinette Fludd faces 18 charges of unlawfully placing a child at risk following an incident involving second-grade students at St. Matthews K-8 on Wednesday.
Warrants filed by The Calhoun County Sheriff Office allege Fludd used profanity and threatened students, saying, "I would shoot you if I could," while forcing the class to stand.
Documents state Fludd allegedly told one child she would "light them up," and while she admitted to making the comments, she claimed to be only "playing" during the interaction.
On Friday, a judge set a $180,000 personal recognizance bond requiring Fludd to wear an ankle monitor and attend all future court hearings.
The Calhoun County School District confirmed it contacted law enforcement immediately upon learning of the allegations and remains fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
