Man who murdered ex-wife and buried her in garden is jailed for life
Alireza Askari was sentenced to life with a 26-year minimum term after stabbing his estranged wife; his aunt received 5.5 years for aiding in disposing of the body.
- At Cardiff Crown Court, Mrs Justice Stacey sentenced Alireza Askari, 42, to life imprisonment with a minimum of 26 years for murdering Paria Veisi, 37, on Friday.
- Less than two weeks before the killing, Ms Veisi had moved into a Richmond Road flat on April 3, 2025, after recently separating from Askari.
- On April 12, Askari purchased four kitchen knives from Tesco in Pengam Green and, minutes after her arrival, sent a message impersonating Ms Veisi at 8.13pm, claiming she would leave the UK for a 'month or two'.
- The court recorded a reduced minimum term of 25 years and 37 days for Alireza Askari, and if released, he will remain on licence for life, while Maryam Delavary received five years and six months.
- Investigators found Maryam Delavary travelled by minicab from London to Cardiff to help hide evidence, Ms Veisi's body was buried under patio slabs, and both were arrested on April 15.
