A 24-year-old man stole a light Cessna 172 aircraft from the Kalocsa airfield in southern Hungary on Saturday morning and took off without permission, heading towards Paks, on the other side of the Danube. The Hungarian army radars detected it, and two influenza fighter planes in the alert service were lifted from the ground, reports the Hungarian press.

Several Gripen fighter aircraft were immediately lifted from the ground after a light aircraft, presumed to have been stolen from the Kalocsa airfield, went directly to the protected area of the Paks nuclear power plant. The incident ended with a forced landing near the strategic objective, according to the announcement made by the Defence Minister in Budapest.

Two Hungarian Gripen fighter jets from the Kecskemét base were scrambled on Saturday to intercept a small plane that had been stolen from Kalocsa Airport and was flying towards the Paks nuclear power plant without permission. The plane eventually made an emergency landing in the Gerjen area, less than 20 kilometers from Paks.
The Hungarian Armed Forces' fighter jets were alerted for the second time in two days.
