Humberto strengthens into a Category 5 hurricane, US NHC says
Hurricane Humberto is one of only 44 Atlantic storms to reach Category 5, while Tropical Storm Imelda threatens heavy rain and flooding along the Southeast U.S. coast, officials said.

- The National Weather Service warns that dangerous surf and life-threatening rip currents will begin Monday and last through much of next week along U.S. East Coast beaches.
- South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster declared a state of emergency Friday, activating response plans, while authorities reported evacuations in Cuba and FEMA said it is `postured and ready` to assist.
- The National Hurricane Center cautions that forecast uncertainty is above average and heavy rainfall forecasts include up to 16 inches in Cuba and 8 inches in the Bahamas as Imelda may become a hurricane by late Monday.
