Chris Hughton: Former Brighton Manager and Tottenham Player Reveals Prostate Cancer Diagnosis
Hughton said blood tests led to the diagnosis and that surgery in May left him cancer-free after a complete recovery.
Former Premier League manager Chris Hughton disclosed he received a prostate cancer diagnosis in 2025, underwent successful surgery to remove the disease in May 2025, and is now entirely cancer-free.
Regular health screenings provided by the League Managers Association enabled Hughton to identify early indicators, as he fell into a "high risk" group being a black male aged over 50 with a family history.
Reflecting on the diagnosis, Hughton said, "The news certainly didn't scare me." He emphasized that "keeping active and busy" was essential to his rehabilitation and post-operation recovery.
The 67-year-old managed 169 top-flight games across Newcastle United, Norwich City, and Brighton, while earning 53 appearances for the Republic of Ireland before his Ghana role concluded in January 2024.
Recently linked to a managerial return at Tottenham Hotspur following Igor Tudor's tenure, Hughton previously won the FA Cup and UEFA Cup with Spurs and remains focused on raising prostate cancer awareness.
