Brock Bowers Returns to Form at Raiders Camp as Michael Mayer Shows Progress
Bowers has been uncoverable in camp, while Mayer is catching a groove as the Raiders sort out roles before the preseason.
Brock Bowers is excelling at Las Vegas Raiders training camp, finding open space on seemingly every play and appearing as sharp as during his record-breaking 2024 rookie season.
After setting the league record for a rookie tight end with 1,194 yards in 2024, Bowers now works alongside Michael Mayer, a 2023 second-round pick seeking a breakout season.
Las Vegas tight ends coach Luke Steckel said the pair are both versatile, noting "I dont think Mike gets enough credit as a receiver, and I dont think Brock gets enough credit as a blocker."
Despite enduring a "busted" nose, Mayer is gaining ground in camp, aiming to improve upon his 83 career catches for 788 yards under new coach Klint Kubiak.
Thursday's exhibition opener against the Arizona Cardinals at Allegiant Stadium offers the tight end duo their first opportunity to test their chemistry in game action.
