How George Washington set an example for SC as vaccinator-in-chief

A bronze statue of President George Washington stands on the steps of the South Carolina Statehouse. It is a copy of a marble statue by French artist Jean-Antoine depicting Washington resigning as commander-in-chief of the Continental Army. Originally installed on the ground floor of the Statehouse in 1864, the statue was moved outside in 1889 and to its current location in 1911, according to Historic Columbia.
