- The conflict reignited in July when the Houthis declared a naval blockade against Saudi Arabia, with violence intensifying this month as the militant group pushed back forces aligned with the Saudi-backed Yemeni government.
- On Tuesday, Riyadh reported air defenses shot down a Houthi drone south of Mecca, an attack it said crossed a "red line" by threatening sacred shrines, though Saree denied targeting the city.
- Brent crude hovered around $108 a barrel on Wednesday, close to its highest level since May, while United States retail diesel prices hit a record above $6.30 a gallon for the first time.
- Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman requested further military support from President Donald Trump last week, but the United States has limited aid to intelligence sharing after a two-month bombing campaign in 2025.
