Yemen's Houthis spokesman, a group aligned with Iran, Mohammed Abdulsalam, said on Thursday that navigation and international trade in the Red Sea and the Strait of Bab el-Mandeb remained safe and regular. The statement was given in the midst of intensified fighting with government forces supported by Saudi Arabia.
Fighting between the Houthis and government forces has intensified in recent days, with the rebels focusing on seizing territory along the coast.

Yemen's Houthis state Red Sea and Bab el-Mandeb navigation remains safe and regular. Mohammed Abdulsalam asserted Yemen poses no threat to international shipping lanes. He described ongoing Houthi operations as defensive and limited to announced targets. These operations will cease once attacks on Yemen stop and a blockade is lifted. Fighting with Saudi-backed government forces has intensified during this period.
The Ansarullah spokesman said that shipping routes in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait are safe, and that the operations of the Yemeni armed forces will continue until the aggression stops and the siege is completely lifted.
