Hormone therapy may reduce the risk of dementia in postmenopausal women, according to a new study. Women who received hormone therapy had a 16% lower risk of developing Alzheimer's disease, researchers reported on August 26 in the journal Alzheimer's & Dementia. The benefits were even greater for women who had gone through menopause as a result of surgery: they had a 26% lower risk of developing any type of dementia, the researchers said.
