Honda HR-V vs Kia Seltos, a budget SUV Edmunds comparison
Edmunds says the redesigned Seltos starts at $26,485 and offers more standard tech and a stronger warranty than the HR-V.
Edmunds compares the 2027 Honda HR-V and 2027 Kia Seltos to determine which small SUV offers better value. Both vehicles take distinct approaches to the compact SUV formula.
Starting at $28,150, the HR-V LX tops out at $32,000 for the EX-L trim. The Seltos undercuts this with a $26,485 base price, though fully loaded trims approach $40,000.
Cargo space varies significantly between the models. The Seltos offers 27.8 cubic feet behind the second row and up to 64.2 cubic feet total, while the HR-V provides 24.4 cubic feet behind seats, expanding to 55.1 cubic feet.
Neither SUV is particularly quick off the line. The 158-horsepower HR-V and 147-horsepower Seltos achieve similar acceleration, though the Seltos's optional 190-horsepower turbocharged engine improves performance.
Kia holds a significant warranty advantage with 10 years or 100,000 miles of powertrain coverage versus the HR-V's basic warranty. Edmunds names the Kia Seltos the winner of this comparison.
