Home invasion call draws VicPD, Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team to Vic West
VicPD said a tactical response was launched after a home invasion call, with residents told to shelter in place as officers investigated.
On Wednesday, a home invasion call in Vic West prompted Victoria police to order residents adjacent to the 700 block of Belton Avenue to shelter in place beginning around 7:20 p.m.
VicPD initiated a tactical response due to concerns that armed individuals may be inside the residence, deploying the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team to the scene.
Officers thanked the public for cooperation in sheltering in place and staying away from the area while they worked to safely resolve the dynamic situation.
Marked VicPD vehicles remain in the 700 block of Belton Road following the incident the evening before, with the department acknowledging the significant police presence may have caused concern.
As the investigation is ongoing, VicPD will not provide further details at this time, though the department thanked the public for their patience throughout the operation.
