Former Telangana CM KCR Questioned by SIT in Phone-Tapping Case

  • On Sunday, the SIT questioned K. Chandrashekhar Rao at his Nandi Nagar residence for nearly five hours, concluding after four hours and forty five minutes during an alleged phone tapping case.
  • A complaint filed by Additional SP D. Ramesh triggered the probe into alleged unlawful interception, which came to light after Praneeth Rao, former SIB DSP, was arrested on March 13, 2024.
  • Around 3 p.m., SIT officials began the in‑home examination in a second‑floor room, allowing one companion and with senior advocate Ramchander Rao available during the inquiry.
  • Senior BRS leaders and workers mobilised at Telangana Bhavan and outside Rao's residence, and after questioning, Rao met lawyers and senior party colleagues.
  • SIT sources say the probe widened to alleged illegal access of call data records and internet protocol records of thousands, including at least 600 tapped phone numbers unrelated to Left Wing Extremism.
