The northern Adriatic region, including beach destinations, has been hit by strong storms since Wednesday, with more expected to arrive on Thursday and Friday. The main risk will be torrential rains from repeated storms, which may bring local flash floods. There is also a risk of strong winds, hail and, occasionally, tornadoes.
Czech tourists heading to or staying in popular seaside destinations should be on their guard these days. An exceptionally strong storm system has formed over the warm Mediterranean Sea, for which the European meteorological service ESTOFEX has issued the highest level of warning. The extreme weather has already hit the Balearic Islands and northern Italy and is moving over the northern and central Adriatic in the coming hours.
