High levels of lead found in air around Kahnawake high school, near Montreal
Seven preliminary tests found lead levels near the Kahnawake Survival School at 1.5 times the provincial standard, council officials said.

- Mylène Ratelle, a professor at the Université de Montréal, described the data as an early snapshot requiring further study, while Jason Calvert, operations manager for the board of education, said the school plans to test its air filtration system.
- The council is working with Environment Canada to determine the lead source; Terrapure General Manager Denis Beaulieu stated the company employs control systems "to collect and treat emissions before discharge to the environment.
