Here's where Trump's border wall stands, and how much is complete

As of Aug. 19, President Donald Trump's administration has built about 64 miles of new primary walls along the United States and Mexico border while replacing about 39 miles of existing structure, according to CBP.
Prior to Trump's first term, about 654 miles of border wall were built under the presidencies of George Bush and Barack Obama. Trump's first term saw about 87 new miles constructed, alongside 371 miles of replacement.
CBP data shows the wall currently spans 38% of the 1,954-mile border, or about 750 miles. As of Aug. 19, this comprises about 747 miles of primary wall and about 126 miles of secondary wall.
Passed in July 2025, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act allocated $46.5 billion to support the administration's border construction initiatives. This funding underpins ongoing wall-building efforts across the United States-Mexico border.
An additional 525 miles of secondary border wall are under construction or planned. A CBP spokesperson told the Facts Data Team, "Border wall construction is planned for completion in 2028.
