Finland's first two F-35A fighters arrived at Rovaniemi Airport. The arrival was witnessed by an estimated two hundred people. According to Henrik Elo, project manager of the Finnish Air Force, the atmosphere at the Lapland Air Base was "enthusiastic and indescribable".
The initial authorization for this operation, which still has to pass some formalities to be effective, coincides with two other key milestones around these devices in Europe: the manufacturer, Lockheed Martin, has celebrated in his American plant the official delivery of the first apparatus of the model to Germany and Finland has received on its floor the first two units of the apparatus, coming from the factory in Texas of the company.
