The president of the National Union of Workers of the Services and Entities for Public Purposes (STTS) estimated that the strike of the health workers that began on the second and ends this Tuesday counted with a membership of 60%. At the hospital of Santo António, in Porto, many users saw their consultations postponed. The strike covered all workers of the health sector, regardless of the bond, career or union affiliation.
The union requires the government and employers to "replenish the points taken from the workers" as well as the "urgent hiring" of staff, in order to put an end to the "use and abuse of shifts".
Two days of health strike are affecting all services. Between Monday and Tuesday, workers claim the replacement of withdrawn rights, better wages and decent working conditions.
