PARIS, Sept 16 - France recorded at least 817 excess deaths between July 27 and August 20, when the country was hit by exceptionally high temperatures, the national health agency said on Wednesday. Read more at straitstimes.com.
The warmest summer ever experienced by the Hexagon since 1900, has resulted in nearly 8,000 excess deaths.

TF1 INFOThe results published by Santé publique France on Wednesday, 16 September, are bound to increase, as the collection of data is not yet complete. The excess mortality of this third summer heat wave has mainly affected people over 75 years of age.
The balance sheet is set to grow, as the figures still need to be consolidated - the collection is not completed - and as it does not yet take into account the entire summer. The monitoring period is from 1 June to 15 September.
Public Health France states that the share directly attributable to heat is not yet known. The balance sheet is also destined to increase as it does not yet take into account the whole summer.
They are added to the 7,300 already recorded by Public Health France since the end of May and the first heat waves.
