Health and Safety Executive investigates gas explosion at Bucks home
One man was taken to hospital and nearby residents were evacuated as investigators work to determine the cause of the blast.
On Sunday at 9:42am, a suspected gas explosion destroyed a home on Cobb Hall Road in Newton Longville, near Milton Keynes, prompting emergency responders to deploy four fire engines and major response units to the scene.
Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service deployed four fire engines alongside two major response units, while Thames Valley Police officers assisted at the scene where a man suffered injuries requiring hospitalization.
Gas network company SGN evacuated residents from nearby properties while engineers conducted safety checks; one witness reported that staff at the Crooked Billet pub cared for evacuated neighbors as crews cleared debris from the cordoned area.
The Health and Safety Executive is investigating the explosion's cause, with a spokesperson stating inspectors are "attending the site of the incident to establish the cause" in coordination with police and fire services.
Thames Valley Police remain in control of the site with road closures in place as investigations continue; residents reported hearing the loud blast from nearby Bletchley, and authorities have urged the public to avoid the scene.
