In a decree published in the Official Gazette, the government authorized the complete dismantling by EDF of the former Fessenheim nuclear power plant (High Rhine), which had been closed since 2026.
The Fessenheim decommissioning operation, which was closed in 2020, will take place in four stages and will have to be completed by 2048. EDF also plans to install a radioactive metal recycling plant there by 2031.
A decree issued this Sunday authorizes the complete dismantling of the Fessenheim nuclear power plant. An important step towards the conversion of the closed site since 2020.
