Netanyahu Looks to Sue Haaretz for Defamation over UAE Warning Report, Denies Any Pre-Oct. 7 Call
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu denies having a phone call or visit with UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed warning of attack plans before October 7 and has instructed his lawyers to sue Haaretz and journalist Shlomi Eldar for defamation.
Netanyahu's office states that no conversation or visit by a UAE representative occurred from September to October 7, supported by call logs and security records.
Haaretz stands by its report that the UAE warned Israel of a possible Hamas attack based on intelligence from reliable sources close to secret UAE-Israel channels.
Netanyahu blames former IDF Chief Herzi Halevi and former Shin Bet head Ronen Bar for not acting on warnings to prevent the October 7 massacre and asserts the responsibility lies with them rather than himself.
