UPDATE: Man in Custody After 5 Stabbed in Great Falls
An infant died after the stabbing left five people critically injured, and police said the suspect's charges are being upgraded to homicide.
The Great Falls Police Department confirmed Saturday that an infant critically injured in a stabbing on Friday night has died, prompting officials to upgrade the suspect's charges to homicide.
Officers responded to a home in the 3800 block of 7th St. NE at 11:25 p.m. Friday, discovering five people critically injured; all were transported to Benefis Emergency Department.
Police took a man into custody while attempting to flee the scene Friday night. Detectives remain at the residence continuing their investigation.
Earlier that evening, a student was stabbed near Great Falls High School following the homecoming football game. Great Falls Public Schools confirmed the student was transported to a hospital.
The two stabbing incidents significantly stretched response capabilities, forcing the GFPD to prioritize an "Emergency Only" response for the remainder of Friday night.
