The Colombian authorities warned this Monday that some of the forest fires that affect the country and have already consumed more than 20,000 hectares are deliberately caused, in a situation of drought due to the phenomenon of the Child that increases the risk of spreading the flames.
This is equivalent to an area higher than that of the town of Usme, which has 21,506 hectares. Of these, Fedegan has reported more than 14,000 hectares of affected livestock areas.
President De la Espriella said he ordered a thorough investigation into allegations of criminal hands in the fires.
