The use of cell phones and other similar electronic devices will be restricted during educational activities in public and private primary and secondary schools throughout the country, according to a new provision of the Ministry of Education (Minedu).
The measure covers public and private primary and secondary schools, and the regulations provide for exceptions for educational purposes, health, disability and emergencies.
The regulation published today sets out the guidelines for class prohibitions, provides for exceptions for health or pedagogy and entrusts oversight to LGUs.
The measure, endorsed by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health, empowers schools to guard equipment during the school day; its use will only be permitted for pedagogical purposes, emergencies, care for health problems and elimination of educational barriers.
The Government formalized the regulations restricting the use of mobile phones in schools, which may be guarded during the school day, but there are four exceptions.
