- Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reviewed proposals for a 'petroleum smart lockdown' to reduce fuel consumption, including grounding 50% of government vehicles and implementing a four-day working week with Friday, Saturday and Sunday as holidays.
- Earlier, the Ministry of Information Technology issued a registration procedure for a petrol relief scheme offering Rs100 discount per litre for motorcycles, Qingqi rickshaws, and vehicles up to 800cc.
- For registration, citizens must send an SMS from a SIM registered in their own name in the prescribed format. Successful applicants receive a confirmation message on their mobile phones.
- Before visiting a petrol pump, beneficiaries must send 'TOK' to 9771, including their CNIC number, vehicle number, provincial code and registration date in the message.
- An automated digital system developed with NADRA verifies vehicle ownership through provincial departments, granting monthly limits of 20 litres for motorcycles and Qingqi rickshaws, and 30 litres for vehicles up to 800cc.
