There are around 44,000 tonnes of illegally dumped waste in Gospić, which is around 7,000 tonnes more than initial estimates, according to a remediation plan presented by the Croatian government. Due to the different types of waste, the remediation will take place in several separate procedures, with the largest share representing almost 33,000 tonnes of buried waste.
The civic initiative 'Gospić is our home' will receive a hazardous waste remediation plan at a meeting in the government. They will meet with three ministers and heads of institutions, and have clear demands for the plan.
The estimated amount of buried waste in Gospić is 44 thousand tons on an area of about 7.5 hectares. Several phases of remediation are planned.

The presentation of the plan for the remediation of 35,000 tons of buried waste in the premises of the former PPK Velebit in Gospić has begun.
The presentation of the Rehabilitation Plan has been announced for 12 noon, and will be chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction Branko Bačić, with the participation of Ministers Marija Vučković and Damir Habijan.
