Democrats Gorinchem has once again secured the most votes in the run-off elections in the South Holland municipality. On Wednesday, the party received 26.3 percent of the vote, good for 7 seats. This equals the number of seats the party won in the elections in March. Stadsbelang finished second again with 4 seats.
Municipal elections: Following suspicions of electoral fraud involving vote solicitation, the municipal council in Gorinchem decided that the election had to be rerun.
At 6:55 a.m., the first voters were already waiting at Gorinchem station to exercise their democratic right for the second time in two months. "It's a shame that it has to be done again."
Following the municipal elections a month ago that may have been fraudulent, residents of Gorcum are heading to the polls again on Wednesday. The first polling station opened at 7:00 a.m., where a total of 31,000 residents of the small city can cast their ballots today.
