1st Google Store Outside U.S. Opens in Tokyo
The three-floor shop lets visitors buy Pixel phones, use AI tools and get repairs as Google expands its retail presence beyond the United States.
On Thursday, Google LLC, a unit of Alphabet Inc, opened its first official store outside the United States in Tokyo's Omotesando district, housed within the Tokyu Plaza.
Spanning three floors, the new location is larger than any of the 10 retail outlets Google operates in the United States, including stores in California and New York.
Visitors can purchase devices on the first floor, while the basement provides repair and support services; the second floor features artificial intelligence technology for creating avatars and designing virtual spaces.
Mauria Finley, vice president of Google Store, said "Japan is a highly critical market for the Pixel portfolio," citing rapid and enthusiastic growth in users across the country.
Feedback from this location will guide the future of Google Stores worldwide, as Finley invited customers to "come in, play, and explore a space filled with Google's technology and passion.
