- Prompted by growing nationwide student protests and the emergence of Gen Z as an influential political voice, the State government launched this initiative to overhaul the education system. Officials intend to implement reforms by understanding students' aspirations.
- The Cabinet Sub-committee will examine systemic challenges including examination integrity, recruitment processes, fee regulation, infrastructure quality, and mental health. Members "can opt for subject-experts from respective fields to assist them," the government order states.
- Ministers will prioritize strengthening scholarships and financial assistance, expanding hostel capacity, and promoting girls' education across the State. Support for students belonging to OBC and minority communities is among key tasks per the government order.
- Wider consultations with students, parents, teachers, and institutions will guide the panel's work. School Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa stated the State is responding to the Chatron movement led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
