CEO and President of Good Good Golf Ousted After Much-Criticized Driver ad, Reports Say
Nahid Giga will serve as interim CEO as Good Good tries to steady operations after Callaway ended its partnership over a controversial ad.
- On Wednesday, CEO Matt Kendrick stepped down from Good Good, with president Joe Flannery also departing the YouTube golf collective. Co-founder Nahid Giga will serve as interim CEO effective immediately.
- These leadership changes follow a controversial advertisement released two weeks ago featuring co-founder Garrett Clark shoving Good Good member Alexis Miestowski. Callaway ended its partnership with the group after backlash.
- Kendrick claimed Callaway approved the advertisement before release, later calling the company's reaction a "coordinated media blitz." Callaway stated their marketing team reviewed the ad, though Kendrick noted he did not personally approve every social post.
- Retailers including Dick's Sporting Goods, Target, and PGA Tour Superstore pulled Good Good merchandise following the controversy. The company withdrew from sponsoring a Texas PGA Tour event, now the Austin Championship, while Golf Channel postponed their reality show.
- COO and CFO Alex Puchala will continue overseeing day-to-day operations to ensure stability through the transition. The company aims to move forward by prioritizing content creation and audience engagement despite the partnership losses.
