Golf-US, International teams add captain’s picks for Presidents Cup
Brandt Snedeker and Geoff Ogilvy filled their final picks, giving the U.S. six top-11 players and leaving the Internationals to chase an 11th straight loss.
On Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026, U.S. team captain Brandt Snedeker and International team captain Australian Geoff Ogilvy finalized their 12-player rosters for the Presidents Cup, which begins Sept. 24 at Medinah Country Club in Illinois.
Ogilvy selected six players, including Sungjae Im, to bolster his International Team, which seeks to snap an 11th consecutive loss to the United States; the Internationals have won only once since 1998.
Snedeker added experience to his American squad by selecting Justin Thomas, Xander Schauffele, and Patrick Cantlay; the U.S. team remains favored, featuring six automatic qualifiers including world number 1 Scottie Scheffler.
"I don't think I've had 12 guys more enthusiastic," Ogilvy said; the International roster includes rookies Nick Taylor, Nico Echavarria, and Ryo Hisatsune, while the U.S. team added 21-year-old rookie Jackson Koivun.
Opening on Sept. 24, the 16th edition of the competition runs through Sept. 27 at Medinah Country Club, with the course—renovated by Ogilvy's Australia-based design company—hosting five fourball matches on the first day.
Im Sung-jae has joined the 2026 Presidents Cup International Team upon the captain's recommendation, forming a trio of Koreans alongside Kim Si-woo and Kim Joo-hyung. The tournament is scheduled to take place over four days starting September 25 at Medina Country Club in the United States, featuring a match between the US team and the International team.
