Golden Knights Captain Mark Stone After 5-Game Absence
Stone, the Knights' top forward with 60 points in 43 games, may return after missing five games due to an upper-body injury, with lineup changes expected if he plays.
On Thursday, Vegas Golden Knights captain Mark Stone was a game-time decision at T-Mobile Arena and returned after a five-game absence against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Stone suffered the injury on March 1 after a light check from Penguins defenseman Kris Letang and missed five games with an upper-body injury.
Coach Bruce Cassidy said 'He hasn’t been ruled out, and he hasn’t been ruled in,' after Stone skated in a non-contact role and joined full line rushes and power-play drills.
The Knights went 1-4 during Stone’s absence, dropping to third in the Pacific Division; if he plays, Tomas Hertl and Mitch Marner would shift, while Reilly Smith and Brandon Saad sit.
Stone’s season totals highlight his importance, with 21 goals and 39 assists in 44 games, and he logged 17:52 plus-2 in the 6-2 victory over the Penguins.
