Gill Smashes Fastest ODI Double Ton as India Beat West Indies in Run-Fest
Gill’s 117-ball double century set up India’s highest ODI chase, while Rohit Sharma also reached 12,000 runs in the innings.
On Wednesday, India captain Shubman Gill scored an unbeaten 223 off 133 balls, leading India to a historic eight-wicket victory against West Indies in Guwahati.
West Indies posted their highest-ever ODI total of 405 for seven, powered by centuries from John Campbell, Shai Hope, and Amir Jangoo—the first team to record three centurions in one innings.
Gill reached 200 in just 117 balls, setting the fastest double century in men's ODI history and surpassing Ishan Kishan's 126-ball record from 2022.
Rohit Sharma scored 101 during the 255-run opening stand, joining Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli as the third Indian to reach 12,000 ODI runs and securing a 2-0 series lead.
India's pursuit of 406 ranks as the second-highest successful run chase in ODI history, trailing only South Africa's 438-run chase against Australia in 2006, while five total centuries made it record-filled.
