Giants’ Arvell Reese Underplays Standout Performance Against Cardinals, ‘Just Trying to Win’
Arvell Reese had nine tackles, three pass breakups and his first NFL interception as the Giants improved to 3-1.
On Sunday, the New York Giants defeated the Arizona Cardinals 36-24 to improve to 3-1, with rookie linebacker Arvell Reese recording nine tackles and his first NFL interception at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford.
Defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson stifled the Cardinals' offense by blitzing quarterback Jacoby Brissett on 53.8% of drop-backs and pressuring him on 38.5% of throws, according to NFL NextGen Stats.
Cornerback Deonte Banks returned an interception 98 yards for a touchdown, while Reese played all 66 defensive snaps to anchor the Giants' dominant unit.
Coach John Harbaugh praised the team's improvement, as the Giants can end a three-year winning streak drought by defeating the Commanders in Washington next weekend.
Jayden Daniels likely will start for the Commanders after missing two games with a dislocated left elbow, though Washington's Mariota remains sidelined with a right knee injury suffered in London.
