City ace Touray stars in stunning Gambia win and "takes nothing for granted"
Touray’s long throw helped spark a comeback as Gambia moved into a strong position in Africa Cup of Nations qualifying, officials said.
- Moroccan referee Mustapha Kechchaf will officiate the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations Group C qualifier between Ghana and The Gambia, supported by assistant referees Lahsen Azgaou and Yassine Saadaoui.
- The Gambia wing-back Ibou Touray recently earned his 28th cap, playing an integral role in their 4-2 win in Accra where his long throw assist set up captain Omar Colley's equaliser.
- Currently a starter for City in League One, Touray played 52 games last season and has featured in all seven league matches this term after reaching the Football League at 24 with Salford.
- Reflecting on his career, Touray said: "Luckily, I haven't had many injuries in my career, and hopefully I can have that luck to carry on," crediting professionalism to his longevity.
- With The Gambia not qualifying for the World Cup in North America, Touray remains focused on his club schedule while hoping for selection in the upcoming AFCON qualifying double header against Ivory Coast.
