Ghana Bans Mining in Its Forest Reserves

Ghana's Minister of Environment, Science and Technology confirmed this week the cancellation of a law dating from 2022, thus putting an end to mining on forest reserves, since this law authorized the President of Ghana to grant mining licences in the forests of the continent's first protected gold producer. This cancellation was welcomed by environmentalists, who warn, however, of the many risks still looming on Ghana's nature.
