At the 2026 F1 Spanish Grand Prix, Williams' Carlos Sainz Jr. was given a three-place grid penalty. The stewards determined that Sainz Jr. had obstructed Cadillac's Valtteri Bottas during his attack lap in Saturday's qualifying session at Madring. Sainz Jr. qualified 17th and Bottas 20th, with both failing to advance to Q2.
